From a natural point, it is a feeling of alarm caused by expectation of imminent danger, pain or disaster. Common fear rises in the normal activities and relationship of life. Victory can come from fear. Example Gen 26v7 (Isaac had the promise of God through a covenant made with Abraham, but he still had a little fear). He may have saved his life from that fear. Confidence in the face of fear. Psalm 23v4 "I will fear no evil". 1 John 4v18 "No fear in love, perfect love casteth out fear." Ruth 3v11. Freedom from fear comes as you trust in God, who protects. We should fear the Lord (fear what He can do to us, and reverential fear). Duet 6:12 speaks of "when we fear the Lord our days will be prolonged". Prov. 1:7 speaks of "the beginning of wisdom." 2 Tim 1v7: "God has not given us a spirit of fear..." Gen 50v21 "Fear Not!" Get the fear of the Lord as states in Acts 9v31: "Walk in the fear of the Lord!" The whole duty of man, is to fear God and keep His commandments! Eccles 12v13 KJV |
